About Us

A bit of history

Founding his company in a suburb in Hull in1908, Sidney Farley was still working in his profession at 93. Over those 70 years, he saw the cityscape of Ottawa radically change.

The history of Farley, Smith & Denis Surveying Ltd. is tied to the growth of the National Capital Region as the Company helped to shape the downtown core and outlying communities. It provided detailed inspections, research and data analysis in the field and applied it to the planning, designing and establishment of property boundaries.

Farley, Smith & Denis Surveying Ltd. continues to be actively involved in the development of the city and the surrounding area. Major projects have included the location of the Hunt Club Golf Course, the design of the Experimental Farm and Wellington West. The Company was a key player in creating many of Ottawa’s suburbs including the multi-phase Westwood Village in Stittsville. It also took on a major role in the development of Orléans.
